Amber is mother to Charlie, Bassatt, Roger, Caitlin and Jasper. The whole family was living in the grounds of a factory along with their extended family. I caught Amber very quickly (wish I could say the same about the rest!), knowing she was the mother of these kittens but that they were weaned. She’s a shy girl, understandably, but nevertheless she lets me touch her and has never, ever, tried to bite or scratch me. There’s no reason why she couldn’t become a domestic cat living with a family. Amber is one of those wee souls who would have been such a loving, affectionate, lapcat had she had that chance in life. Well, she has it now! She just needs the right people with the right attitude, people who will understand her shyness and give her time and patience. When these shy cat/new family situations work out well (and so many have) it’s because the people are right. When it doesn’t go well (and some haven’t) it’s because the people have tried to rush things along by trying to pull the cat out from where it feels safe, by grabbing at it, by just being far too forceful. Shy animals, just like shy children, need time and gentle persuasion, not force. The right people ARE out there, they just aren’t always easy to find! Amber has been spayed and is fully vaccinated and microchipped. Her perfect home would allow her access to the outdoors once she’d settled.
